EuroSouvenir's zero-denomination series occupies a peculiar niche: legal-format novelty notes printed to genuine security-paper standards by Oberthur Fiduciaire, the same Rennes-based house responsible for banknotes issued by several African central banks. The 750th anniversary of Amsterdam's founding — traditionally dated to 1275, when Count Floris V granted toll-free passage to inhabitants at the Amstel dam — is the hook here. Whether 1275 constitutes a true founding or simply the earliest surviving written record is a question Dutch historians have debated for decades.
