Numisquare is designed to be intuitive and easy to use, whether you are a seasoned collector, a researcher, or simply exploring the world of numismatics. This page explains how to navigate the site and make the most of its features.
Main Navigation Menu
The main navigation menu at the top of the page provides access to the core sections of the site:
● Banknotes, Coins, Medals, and Tokens & Bullions allow you to browse the catalog by item type.
● Hovering over a category reveals subcategories that help you narrow down your selection by continent.
Browsing the Catalog
You can browse the catalog by selecting a category from the main menu and then navigating through the hierarchical structure. Each level refines the results further, making it easier to locate specific items.
Item listings display images, key technical details, and historical information. Clicking on an item opens a detailed page with expanded descriptions and additional data.
Using Search
The search bar at the top of the site allows you to quickly find items by entering keywords such as country, denomination, year, ruler, or catalog reference.
Search results can be refined using available filters to help you find exactly what you are looking for.
Reference Literature
The Reference Literature section provides access to bibliographic information commonly used in numismatics. These references are linked throughout the catalog and can help you better understand catalog numbers and scholarly sources.
Item Details Pages
Each item page contains detailed information such as specifications, descriptions of obverse and reverse designs, minting details, and references. Images can be enlarged for closer inspection.
Educational Resources
Numisquare offers educational pages such as grading guides, evaluation tips, and reference material to help collectors understand condition, value, and historical context.
My Collection
Your personal collection is accessible from the top navigation bar once you are logged in. It shows all items you have added, with your personal details such as quality, purchase price, variant, album, and comments.
To add an item to your collection, find it in the catalog or search results and click ADD TO MY COLLECTION. A modal window will appear allowing you to record your quality, purchase price, currency, purchase date, variant, album, grading details, personal notes, and up to two photos of your own copy.
From the My Collection page you can filter items by type and category using the left sidebar, sort and paginate through your items, edit any entry by clicking it, and manage collection-wide settings such as privacy level and attribute visibility through the Settings button.
I Want List
The I Want List lets you keep track of items you are looking for. Add any catalog item to your want list by clicking ADD TO I WANT LIST from a catalog page or search result. You can record the quality you are looking for, your maximum budget and currency, a preferred variant, and a personal note.
Your want list powers the Exchange feature - when another collector offers an item that matches something on your list, it will appear on the Exchange page under the "Who has items I want?" tab.
My Offers List
The My Offers List is where you list items you are willing to sell or trade. Click OFFER THIS ITEM on any catalog page or search result to add it to your offer list. You can specify the quality of your copy, your asking price and currency, a variant description, and a comment.
Your offer list powers the Exchange feature - when another collector has the same item on their want list, it will appear on the Exchange page under the "Who wants items I offer?" tab. You can control whether your offer list is publicly visible to other members using the visibility toggle on the My Offers page.
My Favourites
The Favourites list is a quick bookmark system. Click ADD TO FAVOURITES on any item to save it for easy reference. Unlike the collection, want list, or offer list, favourites carry no additional details - they are simply a personal shortlist.
Your favourites are accessible from the Collector Options menu in the navigation bar.
Exchange
The Exchange page connects collectors based on overlapping want lists and offer lists. It is divided into two tabs: "Who has the items I want?" shows collectors who are offering items from your want list, and "Who wants the items I offer?" shows collectors whose want lists match your offers.
Each match displays the relevant item details, the other collector's quality and price, and how they compare to your own criteria. You can send a direct message to a matched collector, mark a match as "Not good for me" to hide it, or mark it as "Finished" once a deal is done.
The Exchange Settings tab lets you fine-tune which matches are shown - for example, hiding matches above your budget or below your required quality - and configure notification preferences.
Messages
The Messages section provides a private messaging system between registered collectors. You can compose a new message from the Messages page or directly from the Exchange by clicking the contact button on a match. Messages are organised into Inbox, Sent, and Trash folders.
You will receive a badge notification on the Messages link in the navigation bar when you have unread messages. Notification preferences for new messages can be configured in Account Settings.
