UNESCO added "Belgian beer culture" to its Intangible Cultural Heritage list in December 2016, giving the souvenir note industry a reliably popular subject. The EuroSouvenir 0 Euro program, launched around 2015 and printed under license through Oberthur Fiduciaire, produces these notes as legal-format collector pieces — they carry no monetary value and no issuing central bank, but are printed on genuine banknote paper with security features intact.
Oberthur's involvement lends the series more technical credibility than most tourist ephemera. The signature of R. Faille appears on notes across multiple EuroSouvenir themes from this period, functioning as a house signatory rather than any identifiable public official.
