EuroSouvenir notes are a collector-targeted souvenir series with no legal tender status anywhere — they exist purely as mementos, printed to euro banknote specifications by licensed security printers to give them the feel of the real thing. Oberthur Fiduciaire, one of the few firms certified to produce genuine euro notes for the Banque de France, handles production, which accounts for the quality of the substrate and security features present even on a zero-denomination piece.
The Cité du Vin in Bordeaux opened in June 2016, the same year this note was issued — making it one of the earliest souvenirs tied to that building.
