EuroSouvenir notes occupy a peculiar niche: legal-tender-adjacent collectibles that circulate only as tourist mementos, never through any central bank clearing system. Oberthur Fiduciaire has printed the bulk of the series from its French facilities, applying the same security substrate and intaglio techniques used on genuine euro issues — a deliberate choice that gives the notes tactile credibility while the zero denomination keeps them firmly outside monetary law.
Santiago de Compostela is among the more commercially active subjects in the souvenir euro program, with multiple issuing runs across different years.
