Zborov Castle, in northeastern Slovakia, is best known as the site of one of the most consequential engagements involving Czech and Slovak troops during the First World War — the June 1917 Battle of Zborov, where Czech Legion forces broke through Austro-Hungarian lines in a rare offensive success that significantly bolstered the political case for Czechoslovak independence. The choice of Zborov as a souvenir subject is deliberate national symbolism, not aesthetic coincidence.
Oberthur Fiduciaire's involvement in the EuroSouvenir program brought genuine security-printing standards to what is technically a non-circulating novelty — the same French facility that produces legal-tender notes for multiple issuing authorities.
