The Woudagemaal — the ir. D.F. Wouda Steam Pumping Station in Lemmer, Friesland — is the largest steam-powered pumping station ever built and still operational, completed in 1920 and added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1998. The zero-euro souvenir format was introduced by PEAE around 2015 and has since become a minor collecting category in its own right, with Oberthur Fiduciaire producing the notes to genuine euro-series security standards, including embedded security strips and UV-reactive inks. Issued in 2020, this note marks the centenary of the pumping station's construction.
