Kežmarský hrad — Kežmarok Castle — is one of the best-preserved late-Gothic and Renaissance fortress complexes in Slovakia, which made it a natural candidate for the Eurosouvenirs program that began rolling out commemorative zero-denomination notes across European cultural sites from around 2016. This is the second issue for the site, suggesting the first sold out sufficiently to justify another print run — a reasonable inference given the castle's draw as a UNESCO-listed historic monument.
Oberthur Fiduciaire printed on genuine banknote-specification paper with a holographic security strip, giving these souvenirs the tactile authority of circulating currency, which is precisely the point.
