The zero-euro souvenir note program, launched by the UECD in 2015, occupies a legal grey zone that is simultaneously its appeal and its absurdity — denominated at nothing, yet printed by Oberthur Fiduciaire to full banknote specification, including holographic security strip. La Mère Poulard, the legendary Mont Saint-Michel restaurant founded by Annette Poulard in 1888 and still trading on her name and omelette mythology, was among the earliest subjects in the series.
Collectors should note these were sold at a premium above face value from the outset, which is to say above zero — making every transaction technically infinite markup.
