EuroSouvenir notes occupy a peculiar niche — legal in design but carrying no redemption value, they are printed to the same Oberthur Fiduciaire security standards as genuine euro issues, including correct intaglio printing and holographic elements, yet exist purely as a licensed collector item. The programme launched in 2015 and has since expanded to hundreds of subjects across European tourism sites and cultural themes.
Da Vinci is among the most-issued subjects in the series, appearing in multiple regional and institutional variants. Collectors tracking the programme distinguish editions by issuer code and print run, as Oberthur does not publicly disclose quantities.
