Comments

Zero-euro souvenir notes have no legal tender status and are issued purely for the collector and tourist trade, but they are printed to full security specifications — Oberthur Fiduciaire produces them on the same equipment and with the same intaglio techniques used for circulating euro banknotes. The Loire Valley châteaux theme has appeared across multiple souvenir issues, each carrying a unique serial number and EURion constellation, which means they trigger counterfeit detection software in photocopiers despite being worth nothing as currency.
