The zero-euro souvenir series, sanctioned by the European Central Bank and produced under license since 2015, occupies an odd niche — legally not money, but printed to the same security specifications as circulating currency by licensed security printers. Oberthur's involvement gives these pieces the same substrate and intaglio work found on genuine euro notes, which is precisely what drives collector demand.
This example commemorates the Mosel wine Christmas market, one of the Rhine-Moselle region's seasonal traditions. Issued 2019.
