The EuroSouvenir program was launched in 2015 by a consortium of European tourist sites and approved by the European Central Bank, which permits zero-denomination notes to use the euro design framework precisely because they carry no monetary value and therefore require no central bank authorization. Oberthur Fiduciaire produces the entire series under consistent security-printing standards — watermarks, microprinting, and the EURion constellation are all present — which routinely triggers currency-detection software in photocopiers and scanners despite the note being entirely non-negotiable.

Mozarthaus in Salzburg, the composer's birthplace on Getreidegasse, has been a tourist site since 1880.
