The zero-euro souvenir series, managed by the European Central Bank–licensed Euro Souvenir program and printed by Oberthur Fiduciaire, began in 2015 as a formally sanctioned collectible — legal in the sense that counterfeiting prohibitions don't apply to a denomination of zero, a quiet loophole the issuer exploits freely. Oberthur prints them with the same security features as circulating euro banknotes, including the EURion constellation and UV-reactive inks, which makes them genuinely difficult to reproduce illicitly despite their novelty status.
Angelo Roncalli was canonized by Francis in April 2014, alongside John Paul II — an unusual dual canonization that generated considerable attention. This note followed eight years later.
