Euro Souvenir notes are a collector-oriented series introduced in 2015 by the Académie Européenne de Numismatique, authorized to use official euro security printing specifications — including Oberthur's proprietary substrate and features — while carrying a face value of zero, meaning they were never legal tender but are technically indistinguishable in construction from circulating issues. Saint-Nectaire's entry into the series that inaugural year reflects the commune's status as one of the more visited sites in the Auvergne volcanic park.
