The "Slovenský Deň Kroja" — Slovak Folk Costume Day — is an annual event established in 2012 to encourage Slovaks to wear traditional regional dress in public life. This zero-euro souvenir note was issued by the EECG to mark it, one of hundreds of themed collector pieces the French souvenir note industry has produced since the format took off around 2015. Oberthur Fiduciaire printed the piece, as they have for the majority of zero-euro issues, using genuine security paper with the standard eurozone intaglio feel — which is precisely what drives collector demand for the format.
