Joh. Enschedé has been printing documents of value in Haarlem since 1703, making it one of the oldest continuously operating security printers in the world. A commemorative or promotional "Memo Euro" of this type — denomination zero, no legal tender status — is essentially a calling card for that tradition, produced to showcase the firm's current intaglio and security printing capabilities rather than to circulate as currency.
