Memo Euros are souvenir notes issued by individual German attractions under license, denominated at zero and carrying no legal tender status — a format that has proliferated across German tourist sites since the mid-2010s. The Wuppertal Zoo series was produced by Memo Euro Scope GmbH during 2018–2019, with printing handled by Royal Joh. Enschedé in Haarlem, one of the oldest continuously operating security printers in the world, having supplied banknotes and stamps to governments since the early eighteenth century. Their involvement here is largely a function of capacity and security infrastructure rather than prestige — Enschedé has printed commemorative and novelty paper for the European market for decades. The watermark is present despite the note's non-monetary status.
