| Obverse description | The obverse is executed in finely engraved intaglio on a light ground, with the central denomination legend 'mille francs.' in bold italic letterpress, accompanied by an Arabic bilingual inscription below. The heading 'BANQUE DE L'ALGÉRIE' appears at the top, followed by the payment clause 'IL SERA PAYÉ EN ESPÈCES, À VUE, AU PORTEUR', with three signature lines at centre for L'Administrateur, Le Directeur, and Le Caissier.
