| Reverse description | Three lines of bold Arabic calligraphic inscription occupying the central field, stating the mint name and regnal year. A mintmaster's mark appears at the top of the inscription. The legend reads 'Struck in Egypt 1115' (AH), with the date rendered in Arabic-Eastern numerals at the base of the design. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded border consistent with hammered gold coinage of the Cairo mint under Ottoman administration. |

Ahmed III came to power in 1703 after a Janissary revolt deposed his brother Mustafa II — making this early issue a product of a court still consolidating authority under considerable military pressure. The half altın denomination served primarily fiscal and gift-giving functions at the palace level rather than broad market circulation, which accounts for why surviving examples often show minimal wear despite their age.
