Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King George VI facing left, modelled by Thomas Humphrey Paget, whose initials HP appear at the truncation of the neck. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and facial features. The circumferential legend reads GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR, disposed around the upper and lower fields respectively, separated by the portrait. A beaded border frames the entire design.
