Thomas De La Rue printed the entire 1972 Tunisian series during a period when the Banque Centrale was consolidating its note designs after a decade of post-independence currency adjustments. The half-dinar denomination was largely a workhorse note — produced for everyday transactional use at a time when the dinar's purchasing power still made fractional denominations genuinely useful.

The watermark is the sole mechanical security feature, placing it firmly in the lower tier of De La Rue's security specifications for this contract.
