| Obverse description | Full-length allegorical figure of Liberty striding left in high relief, her body enveloped in the folds of the American flag draped across her shoulders, right hand extended toward the sunrise, left hand bearing branches of laurel and oak. The motto IN GOD WE TRUST appears in the left field, with the denomination indicator 250 commemorating the Semiquincentennial and the date 1916 referencing the original design year inscribed in the field. LIBERTY arcs along the upper border, and the West Point mintmark W appears below the figure. |

The encircling legend UNITED·STATES·OF·AMERICA· arcs along the upper border, while HALF·DOLLAR appears in bold lettering along the lower border.
