Reverse description The reverse features a large open laurel wreath at centre, its branches tied at the base and open at the top, occupying the majority of the field. The legend '· LIMA · M ·' is inscribed in the upper field above the wreath, with 'M' denoting the assayer's initial, while the date '· 1838 ·' appears in the lower field below the wreath, all punctuated by pellets. The denomination '1/2 E' is incorporated within the reverse lettering. The entire design is enclosed within a finely beaded border consistent with milled gold coinage of the period.
