Obverse description Crude hammered field bearing a multi-line Arabic legend disposed across the coin in three registers. The uppermost register contains the word 'Sultan' (سلطان), the middle register reads 'Ibrahim' (ابراهيم), and the lower register bears the Hijri date 1134 preceded by the word 'Sana' (سنة), meaning 'year'. The script is rendered in a bold, informal hand characteristic of Maldivian billon coinage of the early eighteenth century, with letters partially blundered due to the hand-hammered striking technique.
