| Obverse description | Britannia seated left, draped and bare-headed, extending an olive branch in her right hand and holding a trident in her left, with a Union shield resting against her side. The figure is set within a continuous wreath of oak leaves arranged in a counter-clockwise direction, the whole enclosed within a beaded border. A faint ship appears in the left field near the exergue, reinforcing the maritime symbolism associated with Britannia. |

| Reverse description | A spread eagle displayed, facing left with wings elevated, grasping a bundle of four arrows in its right talon and an olive branch in its left talon. The date 1813 appears in the exergue below the eagle. The peripheral legend HALFPENNY TOKEN curves around the upper field, all within a beaded border. The design is executed in a bold, somewhat provincial style characteristic of Lower Canadian token coinage of the War of 1812 emergency period. |
