| Obverse description | Crude bareheaded bust of King George III facing left, truncated at the shoulder, with a ribbon tied at the nape of the neck. The portrait is a rough imitation of the regal British halfpenny type, rendered in low relief with simplified facial features. No legend or inscription surrounds the effigy. The field is plain and unadorned. The overall style is characteristic of the lightweight imitation coppers that circulated widely in British North America during the early nineteenth century. |
