Reverse description The reverse carries a three-line typographic legend arranged across the central field, reading ONE above HALFPENNY and TOKEN below, with the denomination words set in bold capital letters. A foliated ornamental spray, comprising two branching sprigs radiating from a central floral rosette, is positioned between ONE and HALFPENNY. A smaller foliate ornament appears between HALFPENNY and TOKEN. The plain, unadorned field and bold lettering are characteristic of the utilitarian design tradition of British colonial trade tokens of the early nineteenth century.
