| Reverse description | A naturalistic spray of mayflower (Epigaea repens), the provincial emblem of Nova Scotia, occupies the central field, depicted with multiple blossoms, buds, and broad leaves rendered in fine botanical detail. The circular legend PROVINCE OF NOVA SCOTIA curves along the upper periphery, while HALFPENNY TOKEN arcs along the lower periphery, the two inscriptions separated by the floral design. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. The composition is characteristic of the decorative token coinage produced at the Royal Mint in the mid-nineteenth century. |
