| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of King Carlos III facing right, occupying the central field. The royal effigy is rendered in the neoclassical portrait style standard to the bust-type coinage of the Spanish colonial mints. The circumferential legend reads CAROLUS . III . DEI . GRATIA, with the date of issue appearing at the base of the design below the truncation.
