| Obverse description | Central field bears the quartered royal arms of Spain — castles and lions with the Bourbon oval escutcheon in fess point — surmounted by the royal crown. Two crowned columns of Hercules flank the shield on either side, each with a scroll banner. The encircling legend reads *A*CARLOS*IV*REY*DE*ESPAÑA*Y*DE*LAS*YNDIAS, separated by star stops, running clockwise around the periphery within a reeded border. |
