Obverse description Central field displays the crowned quartered arms of Spain — incorporating the castles of Castile, lions of León, fleur-de-lis of the Bourbons, and the pomegranate of Granada — surmounted by a large royal crown. The assayer initials MF flank the shield to the left, with decorative rosette stops visible to the right. A circular Latin legend surrounds the entire design within a milled border.

The mint mark appears to either side of the central design, with the date at the bottom of the field. A circular Latin legend encircles the composition, and a milled border frames the entire reverse.
