Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King Fernando VII facing right, rendered in the standard portrait style adopted for second-type coinage. The king's effigy shows curled hair bound with a laurel wreath, with the truncation of the bust visible at the lower field. The date appears in the lower exergue area. The circumferential legend reads FERDIN VII DEI GRATIA, separated by dots, within a beaded inner border.

Reverse description The crowned Bourbon royal coat of arms, quartered with the castles of Castile and lions of León, with the central escutcheon of the French royal house, flanked on either side by the Pillars of Hercules with scrolling banners. The mint mark (LIMAE) and assayer initials (JP) appear in the legend, which reads HISPAN ET IND R around the circumference. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border with a milled edge.
