Obverse description The Peruvian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a vicuna in the upper left canton, a cinchona tree in the upper right, and a cornucopia in the base, all encircled by a civic wreath tied at the bottom with flanking palm and laurel branches. The circular legend REPUBLICA PERUANA arcs along the left periphery, with LIMA and the fineness designation 9 DECS. FINO appearing in the upper field, and the assayer initials F.G. alongside the mint mark at lower right. The date appears prominently in the exergue below the shield.
