Reverse description The reverse features Benedetto Pistrucci's celebrated design of Saint George, helmeted and cloaked, on horseback, driving a broken lance and wielding a sword as he slays the dragon beneath the rearing horse's hooves. The dragon is depicted prostrate beneath the horse, with the broken lance lying in the lower field. The date appears in the exergue, with the mint mark to the lower left and the engraver's initials 'B.P.' to the lower right. The design is contained within a toothed border with no surrounding legend.
