Obverse description Bare-headed young effigy of Queen Victoria facing left, engraved by William Wyon after the model by Sir Francis Chantrey, with hair drawn back and arranged in a chignon secured by a fillet. The date appears in the lower exergue. The peripheral legend arcs around the upper field, separated from the toothed border by a narrow rim.
