| Obverse description | The obverse field is entirely occupied by the Shi'ia Kalima (Islamic profession of faith in its Twelver Shi'a form), rendered in bold, deeply struck nasta'liq-style Arabic calligraphy. The inscription reads: 'There is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God, Ali is the Friend of God,' filling the flan in multiple registers without a border legend. The script is vigorously executed, characteristic of early Safavid hammered gold coinage, with overlapping letter forms owing to the small flan size.
