| Obverse description | Host coin is a Spanish colonial 2 Reales struck at the Lima Mint. The obverse displays a right-facing laureate and draped bust of King Charles IV of Spain, with a ribbon bow visible at the nape of the neck. The surrounding legend reads CAROLUS · IV · DEI · GRATIA · with the date 1790 positioned in the lower exergual area. A prominent central hole has been punched through the coin as part of the Haitian countermarking process, partially obliterating the central field. The coin shows typical circulation wear consistent with its use as a host piece. |

| Reverse description | The reverse of the host 2 Reales displays the crowned Spanish royal arms at center, flanked by the Pillars of Hercules with banderoles, a design characteristic of Lima Mint milled coinage of the late 18th century. The partial legend around the periphery reads HISPAN · ET · IND · REX · MÆ · 2 R · J · P ·, indicating the denomination, mint assayer initials, and royal title. A central hole, punched during the Haitian countermarking procedure circa 1811, disrupts the central shield. The reverse retains enough detail to confirm the Lima (LM/ME) mint and assayer initials IJ. |
