| Reverse description | Plain, unadorned reverse with no design, inscription, or decorative element. The flat field displays only the irregular surface texture and tool marks inherent to the hand-hammered production technique, consistent with the reverse treatment found across Almoravid qirat fractions of this period. |

Yūsuf ibn Tāshfīn founded Marrakesh, unified the Almoravid territories from the Sahara to the Strait of Gibraltar, and crossed into Iberia in 1086 to halt the Reconquista advance at the Battle of Sagrajas — one of the most decisive Andalusian engagements of the eleventh century. The fractional silver issues of his reign reflect a monetary system inherited from Berber trade networks, where tiny denominations served trans-Saharan exchange as much as urban markets. At 0.25g, production consistency was nearly impossible to maintain, and weight variation across surviving specimens is the rule rather than the exception.
