| Reverse description | A turreted castle of three towers, representing the arms of Castile, is depicted in the center of the field in low relief. The castle features a central archway with a portcullis and two flanking towers, each topped with battlements. To the left of the castle appear the mint mark initials (LME for Lima, or L depending on the variety), flanked by pellets, and to the right the assayer's initials or the fraction mark '1/4', also flanked by pellets. The date appears in the lower field below the castle. The design is enclosed within a plain field bordered by a reeded inner rim. |
