Obverse description Blue and brown intaglio print on a fine guilloche underprint; the national arms of Muscat and Oman — crossed khanjar daggers and swords — appear as a vignette at right. Arabic inscriptions dominate the centre and upper field, giving the issuer name and denomination, with serial numbers printed in blue at upper left and lower right.

Reverse description Printed in blue with a multicolour floral guilloche vignette at right, the reverse centres on an intaglio vignette of Jalali fortress rising from a rocky promontory above the sea. The denomination fraction '1/4' appears in large numerals at upper left and right within an ornate scroll border, with the issuer inscription in English along the lower margin.
