Reverse description The reverse displays the interlaced monogram of Theoderic the Great, king of the Ostrogoths, composed of the letters forming his name in a cipher design. A small cross surmounts the monogram in the upper field, and the entire device is enclosed within a beaded wreath border, a composition characteristic of Ostrogothic coinage struck at Ravenna in the name of the Byzantine emperor.
