Obverse description Central field occupied by a three-line Arabic inscription in bold, somewhat angular script, reading the Shahada: 'La ilaha illa Allah / Muhammad rasul Allah' (There is no god but God / Muhammad is the Messenger of God), with the name 'Timur' (تيمور) inscribed below. The legends are executed in raised relief against a flat, unornamented field typical of hammered Timurid coinage. A dotted border runs along the inner periphery of the flan, framing the inscription. The flan is irregular in shape, as is characteristic of hand-struck Central Asian silver coinage of this period. The overall style is consistent with the epigraphic tradition of Timurid monetary art, emphasizing calligraphic piety over figural imagery.
