Obverse description Irregular cast bronze ring coin with a large central circular perforation. The annular field bears a raised inscription of three archaic Chinese characters — 一少朱 (Yi Shao Zhu, meaning '¼ Zhu') rendered in negative (incuse-relief) text, denoting a denomination equivalent to one-quarter of a Zhu, where one Zhu was equivalent to 0.65 grams of gold. Visible in the field is a relief depiction of a feline or canine animal figure in profile, consistent with decorative motifs found on Chu-state bronze castings of the Warring States period. The flan is notably irregular with uneven edges characteristic of primitive cast coinage, and the surfaces display a natural green and brown patina of ancient burial origin.
