| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Panama is displayed prominently within the bimetallic centre, rendered in fine detail against the gold-toned field. The shield depicts the tools of labour, a cornucopia, a winged Harpy eagle with spread wings, and crossed swords and rifles, encircled by a row of nine stars. The circular legend REPÚBLICA DE PANAMÁ arcs across the upper portion of the outer nickel-plated steel ring, while the denomination UN BALBOA is inscribed along the lower arc.
