Bar and bowling alley scrip from small-town Wisconsin — Cadott sits in Chippewa County, population under 1,500. This type of single-use redemption coupon was common across rural Midwest taverns and bowling alleys through the late twentieth century, typically issued to smooth out change-making at the bar or to function as a prize token redeemable at the counter. One can of pop: non-negotiable, non-transferable in any practical sense, and worth exactly what it says.
