| Obverse description | Irregular cast copper flan bearing the VOC monogram in the field, rendered in raised Latin characters. The cipher comprises the interlaced letters V, O, and C, representing the Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie, with the initial N for the Negapatnam chamber appearing to the left. The lettering is boldly cast but shows the characteristic roughness and surface irregularity typical of low-denomination VOC coinage produced at the Negapatnam mint.
