| Obverse description | The complete national arms of Barbados is rendered in fine relief at the centre of the field, featuring a shield quartered with a bearded fig tree and two Pride of Barbados flowers, supported on the dexter by a dolphin and on the sinister by a pelican. Above the shield rises a helmet and mantling surmounted by a hand grasping two crossed sugarcane stalks as crest. A scroll below the shield bears the national motto PRIDE AND INDUSTRY in the legend. The date is divided by the arms, with '19' to the left and '73' to the right, each flanked by a small trident symbol. The legend BARBADOS curves along the lower periphery, with a beaded border encircling the entire design. |
