Additional information

Peru's decimal coinage reform of the 1850s was a prolonged negotiation between competing monetary philosophies — the old real-based system and the emerging centesimal models spreading across Latin America. This copper centimo pattern was part of that transitional probing, struck to test designs and module before any official decimal law had been fully enacted. The reform ultimately produced the decimal sol system, but not before several pattern series were struck and discarded.

KM#Pn7 is among the less-documented Peruvian patterns of this decade, and surviving examples are infrequently offered.
