Obverse description Uncrowned effigy of King Edward VIII facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and a plain neckline. The portrait is set against a deeply mirrored proof field, conveying the medallic quality of the piece. The circumferential legend reads EDWARD · VIII · KING · & · EMPEROR in raised Latin capitals, separated by raised dots, running clockwise from the lower left. The rim is bordered by a uniform beaded denticle pattern. The overall style reflects the restrained, modernist portraiture characteristic of British medallic art of the mid-twentieth century.
